More About Nicole

As a Marriage and Family Therapist in New York City, I am passionate about helping you get to where you want to be, while accepting and meeting you exactly where you are. I offer a compassionate and collaborative approach, drawing on a handful of modalities. Together, we can bring you into your body, allowing you to experience more emotional freedom and expression, examine and explore how the past informs the present, and explore your relationship dynamics through a contextual lens.

After many years working in finance at Goldman Sachs and in real estate private equity, I changed careers to become a therapist. For my graduate clinical experience, I worked at Beit T'Shuvah, a Jewish residential addiction treatment center, where I provided individual, group, couples, and family therapy to individuals and their families struggling with substance abuse, complex trauma, attachment issues, and relational difficulties. As your therapist, I will help you understand how your past impacts your present, exploring deep emotions that serve to heal and empower your life moving forward.

Starting Therapy Requires Courage

It’s not easy to enter into a process with so many unknowns. Therapy can feel like a black box. You may be wondering, how does therapy work? How will we track progress? I believe in the power of transparency, so let's try to give you as much information as possible about the process. If you still find yourself with questions or uncertainty, I encourage you to reach out so we can discuss.

We will generally meet once a week for our 45 minute sessions. During the first few sessions, we will talk about your history, your treatment goals, and explore ways in which I can be helpful. It is important to note that sometimes in therapy, it gets harder before it gets better. Therapy can bring out painful feelings that we have worked hard to avoid. I will be with you every step of the way if and when these feelings arise. I encourage you to trust the process. You may come into therapy for one thing, and we may end up working on something different. While the healing process can unfold in unexpected ways, you are always in charge. I will guide us, but I will always follow your lead.

What can I expect from treatment?

Depending on what you are coming in for, the course of treatment can be brief or take time. An important, yet often unclear piece of therapy is how to track progress. I believe this should be a collaborative effort, so I will continuously monitor your growth and progress and check in with you to ensure you are getting what you want out of our time. If, at any time, you feel like you need to go in a different direction, I encourage you to bring this up.

What is the length of treatment?
How will we track progress?
How will we meet? What times are you available?
Do you take insurance? What are your fees?

At this time, I am an out-of-network provider and therefore do not take insurance, but you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance provider. I encourage you to inquire with your insurance company to see what your out-of-network coverage for mental/behavioral health services is. It's normal to have concerns about the cost of therapy. I believe mental health services should be accessible to all, so I offer a sliding scale fee structure to meet your unique situation. We can discuss this in greater detail in our initial consultation.

Life is busy! I strive to meet the needs of busy working professionals, so I offer early morning sessions as well as late evening sessions. I typically offer sessions between the hours of 8 am - 8 pm, and can be flexible to meet your schedule. I offer teletherapy to make therapy more accessible to busy professionals, but also offer in-person sessions in NYC. We'll discuss your preferences and schedule in our initial consultation.

How do I get started?

Therapy is all about our relationship. Let's make sure we're the right fit by spending 15 or 30 minutes on the phone getting to know each other before we start. To schedule a free initial consultation, please fill out the contact form or email me at nicolerothschildtherapy@gmail.com. I'll reach out to schedule a free consultation.

Pink Sand

"Over the last 14 months, I've had the pleasure of working with Nicole. She has helped me transform my life and look inward as to why I react and behave the way I do. She has helped me break life long patterns and behaviors. She is attentive, smart, compassionate, and empathetic. Without her, I don't think I would have been able to make as much progress as I have in my sobriety and in my life over the past 14 months."
